2011 ONE-WISH and beyond

First and foremost may I wish everyone a Happy New Year and may all your wishes, and dreams become a reality in 2011…….

2010 has been another fantastic year for one-wish, not only have we received over 7,000 wishes from different people, from different countries from around “our” world, but it’s given me the opportunity to meet and make many new friends, friends I would not have known if it wasn’t for one-wish.

I would just like to take this brief opportunity to mention a couple of friends I have met through one-wish who are both exceptional and wonderful people, Wendy and Tom Rees. Wendy is a BEST selling author of six books whose latest book is “Dog Lover's Daily Companion: 365 Days of Tips, Tricks, and Techniques for Living a Rich Life with Your Dog”. Wendy amazingly manages to find the time to run her own website
wendynanrees.com along with a blog which is a must visit especially if you like our four legged friends. The blog is called adogsvoyagearoundtheworld.blogspot.com and is an absolutely fantastic, fun and informative site for both adults and children alike.

Tom is a very creative guy with a vision, a vision to help others in need and is the creator and founder of
reesnetworks.com who have focused their attention and developed the largest single database of sober livings and halfway houses in the US soberlivingsearch.com with the sole purpose of helping those who truly need the help and support of others. Tom also runs his own blog dontdiecrying.com and once again I must recommend a visit to all of Tom’s sites as I believe just like I did that you will certainly gain a different and clearer perspective and understanding of life outside “our” own.

Both Wendy and Tom have become very good friends, and I am glad that thanks to one-wish that I have had the opportunity to get to know and meet these wonderful people in person.

I would also like to make a special mention for Wendy’s sister, Carol Ann Emquies who is the chairman of the Africa Schoolhouse Foundation who are committed to building sustainable school communities for children in underserved areas of Africa. Their goal is to aid the progress of learning using modern technology and environmentally conscious methods while safeguarding the traditional teachings of cultural heritage.

Thanks to Carol and her team at the Africa Schoolhouse Foundation the children of Ntulya Village now enjoy a much higher standard of education than they may otherwise have received. It’s absolutely wonderful and very inspirational to see the continued development of the facilities now being made available at the Ntulya Primary School which in turn is giving every single child the same opportunity and chance in life as those of our very own children. This is such a worthwhile organisation, and it is the children who are the true beneficiaries of such a wonderful organisation. For more information on their great work just log onto the
africaschoolhouse.org

Now back to the events on one-wish.

Events have continued to move at a pace here at one-wish during the year. We have had over 2,000 people subscribe to the one-wish mailing list to be kept in touch with the latest happenings and offerings on one-wish.

The ONE-WISH Pledge campaign which was started way back in 2009 in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK has continued to gain momentum, so without any doubt I have decided to continue the campaign indefinitely.

Therefore, for every single person who makes a wish on one-wish.co.uk between the 1 January 2011 – 30 June 2011, I promise to continue to donate 1p per wish to the following charity: Make-A-Wish Foundation UK. This may not sound much but hopefully if everyone reading this pledge makes a wish and shares this with their family and friends this will soon add up. My third payment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK was made on the 1 January 2011 as promised.

Please help me to help others and thank you for your continued support…….

Finally, just a little reminder of 10 GREAT reasons to discover what one-wish can do for you.

• Submit YOUR most desired wish online via a simple, easy to use web-form.

• A new, clean and fresh looking website layout with very easy to follow navigation, you won’t get lost on one-wish.

All the above is just a taster of what is now on offer to you at one-wish, so I really hope that when you have a few minutes to spare you will drop by and discover for yourself the wonderful goings on at one-wish.

In 2008 I created and founded my website with the sole aim of eventually helping others and one day this aim will become a reality, a reality not for commerce but for each and everyone of us, a place where sincerity, honesty and goodness will prevail and bring hope and a little joy of Christmas closer to those whom only wish to enjoy the same peace and harmony you, and I are both enjoying today.

My own philosophy on life has always and will remain simple “If I can help to make someone’s life easier, happier and fulfilling for at least one day, then this alone is good enough for me, why complicate life. Tomorrow is not a guarantee for anyone, but if I’m lucky enough to be here then let me make a difference, no matter how small that difference may be.

Always remember one thing, life is a gift and is for living, live it to its fullest everyday. I believe I am who I am because of everyone, not just because of who I am.

Thank you for sparing a few minutes to read this update, and finally I would like to thank each and everyone of you who has so kindly visited my website, because if it wasn’t for you my website would not be the success it is today!

Many Thanks
Kind Regards
Mike

Ps: The grass may look greener on the other side but life will always throw up some twist and turns for all of us, some for good and some for bad, but it’s how we react and respond to these events that truly define the person we will eventually become and lead us to our destiny.

This may well sound really strange....

Did anyone else see bright orange lights in the sky over Didsbury (UK) last night...... at around 11 - 11:30pm, there were 3 evenly spaced orange glowing lights travelling in a north/west direction. At first I thought they might have been helicopters or even planes, but they seemed to be travelling too close together and there was no noise or additional flashing lights. These 3 lights disappeared into a cloud, but then they were closely followed by another 2 again flying close together and then by another 3, then 1 by 1, about 12 in all over a 30 minute period. This was so surreal and very strange... and before you say it, no, I hadn't been drinking last night.

Upon doing some research this morning on the internet this is certainly not the first occasion of people seeing these bright orange lights, there have been many similar sightings throughout the UK especially in and around Manchester over the past couple of years. If you don’t believe me just Google the above, it’s actually very fascinating to read all the reports.

I know this post is not in relation to my website, but it was something I experienced last night, and I wanted to share this with my readers.

Thank you for reading.

We all wish for something but do we wish for the right thing.....

Wishes play a pivotal role in hope, appreciative inquiry, resilience, savoring, purpose, love and goal setting. It is not always possible to guess the cause of happiness or the reason behind a particular demand. As a result, people often land up wishing for the “wrong” things. Wishes reveal a lot about the nature of a particular individual, and interestingly act as connections between human beings. Irrespective of the root, or community similar wishes bring people together. Actually, there are some concrete reasons underneath the perspective of consciousness that continuously ambush every effort if left unchanged. It would be no exaggeration to affirm that every endeavor kick starts with a wish. Human beings are born with an innate aptitude to create what they want. What is required is the understanding on how to "turn on" this ability.

Just a little up-date on one-wish.

Great news…..I am rapidly approaching a milestone of mine where I set a goal at the beginning of the year to attract 5,000 people to leave a wish upon my website one-wish, and I would like to thank each and everyone of you who have kindly contributed your personal wish. It would be absolutely wonderful if with your help, I could surpass this goal before the end of August. So if you like my website may I ask if you would kindly pass on my website details to your friends and family and ask if they would kindly leave a wish…….

Thanks to my own one-wish pledge campaign I've just made my second donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation (UK), and due to the success of this campaign I have decided to continue to promote my campaign for at least another year.

If and when you get the opportunity may be over the weekend, please will drop by, say hello and check-out my new "home" page and while your there why not enter the new prize draw.......you just never know, it could be your lucky day!

Finally, I’ve made it very easy for you to share my website with your Friend's and Family, just click on the "share this button" on my website or simply forward this email to the people you know.

Thank you for sparing a few minutes to read this message and a big thank you to not only those who have kindly left their personal wish but to all those who feel that they want to help by spreading 'the word' with mentions to family, friends, etc.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Take Care & Kind Regards

Mike

Africa Schoolhouse Foundation

One-wish is very pleased to have come across the Africa Schoolhouse Foundation www.africaschoolhouse.org/ who are committed and endeavouring to bring the standards of schooling and life to a self sustainable level for the less fortunate Children and Villages of “Our World” to a level that most of us all take for granted.

Please drop by www.africaschoolhouse.org/projects.html to see their latest project; Ntulya School House. 100% of any donation made will go directly to the Ntulya project and benefit the Children directly.

“Africa Schoolhouse Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization that is a public charity for U.S. tax purposes. We are committed to building sustainable school communities for children in underserved areas of Africa. Our goal is to aid the progress of learning using modern technology and environmentally conscious methods while safeguarding the traditional teachings of cultural heritage"

Mission Statement

This is one the most absolute worthwhile cause’s I have come across whilst operating my website. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with the Africa Schoolhouse Foundation for their commendable and honourable work and drive to make the world a better place for all those who are less fortunate.

An extract from their latest newsletter, December 2009

Some of the young children of Ntulya (town. village)

Choo (pronounced "cho") is the Swahili word for toilet. In Ntulya, we have begun construction on eco-friendly; sustainable, self-composting pit latrines for our campus of 14 classrooms and 10 teacher houses. The school enrolment of 630 students requires 30 latrines for both girls and boys; the teachers living on campus in 10 individual homes will require one latrine each. These hygienic and innovative toilets are simple: while one pit is in use, the other is left covered. Within two years, the waste in the covered pit will dry up, ridding itself of pathogens, so that it's suitable for use as clean and usable crop fertilization!

And while this topic may seem an odd one for the holidays, remember to be especially grateful if you're blessed with proper and clean sanitation today - because many people (one-third of the world's population - 2.5 billion folks), unfortunately, are not.

Just before you go please take a moment to consider

6 in every 10 Africans lack access to a proper toilet.

In sub-Saharan Africa, 322 million people lack access to clean water and 463 million people lack access to adequate sanitation.

Together, unclean water and poor sanitation are a leading cause of child mortality: an estimated 5,000 children die daily from diarrhoea, which is spread through poor sanitation and poor hygiene. Universal access to improved sanitation could reduce diarrhoea-related morbidity by more than a third.

Studies have found that about half of girls who drop out of primary school in sub-Saharan Africa do so because of a lack of separate toilets and easy access to safe water

...and, please help spread the word.

Wish of the Month

I really wish that I could help my parents out financially. They are in so much debt and bought a house 6 years ago but haven't been able to redevelop it properly because of financial issues. There have been so many repairs to it that the house is becoming a shambles. I also wish for my mother and step dad to stop smoking and to become more active, for the benefit of my younger brother and for themselves. I wish that they will lead a more stable life in the future when they grow old. I also wish for my auntie to not have a miscarriage this time as she has been trying for a baby for over 10 years. She is finally almost 3 months pregnant and I hope she stays that way! I also wish for my good friend Richard who I hope finds the inner strength in him to carry on with his life and not think so negatively about himself. Gilbraltar

This is absolutely fantastic news, thank you so much Wendy on behalf of one-wish

This is a copy of a letter I received yesterday from Wendy to Laura at the Make-A-Wish Foundation and I wanted to share this with everyone as it sums up what one-wish is all about. This is absolutely fantastic news thank you so much Wendy on behalf of one-wish and all my followers, this truly is a wonderful thing that you are doing.

8/16/2009

Dear Laura,

Hello. My name is Wendy and I am a good friend of Mike Rigby, owner of the web site, one-wish.co.uk. I live in Los Angeles, California and have a radio show and webpage called Wendy’s Animal Talk.

Recently, I have been very moved by your organization and foundation and I would consider it an honor to grant a wish. As a breast cancer survivor, I know first hand what it is like experiencing daily challenges. Since birth, I have lived with servicer dyslexia and ADHA. I truly feel comfort in knowing that there are Guardian Angels, such as yourself and Mike out there, helping dreams come true.

Please let me know how I help grant a child wish, either personally or through my radio show. Perhaps you have a young budding On Air Talent who would love to have their very own pet talk show for a day.

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful wishes you and your staff grant every day.

Bless you and your children.

Do You Dream of Becoming a Writer?

Most of us have grown up reading Grimm’s fairytales and classic stories like Alice in Wonderland or the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. And then we go on to read Mills and Boons and Sidney Sheldon novels in our teenage years. From detective novels engaging us with their mystery and suspense to romance or adventures and sci-fi, there are endless genres of fiction that you may enjoy reading. Non-fiction writers are also quite popular. Take for example Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, which has become a global bestseller in its own right. It has even been translated into a number of languages, reaching a larger and varied audience.

No wonder that many of us wish writing a book to narrate their own fiction or real-life tales and become famous. But the urge to become a writer, most of the times, lies dormant in people who are engaged in some other full-time job. They feel that they are born to do something different, but are unable to quit their job or find time to start upon their dream novel. So, life just goes on with the hope that someday their wish will be fulfilled. You can now share your dreams, hopes and wishes with people around the globe and also listen in on their stories at http://www.one-wish.co.uk/

Wish for MONEY

A small wish on a dandelion fluff “I hope I become a millionaire some day.” Those who have money, they wish for more and those who don’t, clamor for some. Most people can benefit from having more of money in their lives. Actually it all begins with a simple thinking – or at least that is what studies on people who are wealthy reveal. It has been found that people who have learnt to think about money differently are the ones who manage to make it big, albeit financially.

There are some concrete reasons just below the perspective of our consciousness. These if left unchanged, persist to ambush our every attempt in making our wish come true. Physical tangible wealth begins from a wish. With time this wish grows into clarity and feeling until it can be turned into reality. To describe in brief, all human beings have the innate inborn aptitude to create what they want. What we only require is to understand how to "turn" this ability “on”. Undoubtedly, wishing is a significant part of this process. And what better way to make your wishes get noticed and read by people wanting to help others’ wishes come true than online. The website http://www.one-wish.co.uk/ can help attract the attention of global charity organizations and benevolent individuals, who will help you, achieve your wish in a jiffy!

Wishes do come true

I am glad that most of the time my wishes come true. My team wins tournaments even though we are not the strongest team, my girlfriend finally talks to me after several days of silence, in fact there are countless such situations where surprisingly my wishes have come true. I have heard people saying that it is the weak who find solace making wishes for something. But I believe they will change their mind once they realize the power of a wish that can turn even the impossible into possible.

So why not visit http://www.one-wish.co.uk/ and make your one wish come true!

Wishing for Wishes to Come True!

What did you wish for last time you had been ditched by your long-time girlfriend? Love, I guess. What did you wish for when you could not afford that HD television set? Money, I presume. What did you wish for when you witnessed the recent religious riots on TV? Peace, I suppose. Everyone wishes for something every other day, but there is a single wish that one holds very near to the heart - a wish that almost every individual wants to be true?

So why not drop by http://www.one-wish.co.uk/ and make your wish today.

Saturday, 4 April 2009

If all my wishes are fulfilled

What if someone asks you to make one wish - what would you wish for? Money, fame, health or luck? Wishes differ from person to person. If you ask your little sister, she might wish for her favorite game or favorite doll, for which she has been longing for since several days and had set her eyes upon. If you ask your teenage neighbor, probably his wish is something different. He might wish for good luck in his forthcoming exams or in his current dilemma. A young professional wishes for success in his life and profession. An aged couple might wish for peace, dedication and faith towards their almighty. Strange, but true! Moreover we all have priority wishes as well. A particular wish has a priority over other wishes and needs to be fulfilled earlier if given a chance. Wishes indeed are different and keep changing from person to person.

So visit http://www.one-wish.co.uk/ today and decide on your one-wish!

New Month, Fresh Start

Good Morning.

Hopefully not too many of you fell for the usual April Fools day jokes and pranks, I have to admit I escaped them all this year. However one good thing about April Fools day is that it indicates the start of a new month, so why not make a fresh start and make a new wish for the month at http://www.one-wish.co.uk/

I look forward to your visit.

Have a great day!

Kind Regards
Mike.
